Phil Giles on balancing communication between incoming players & players that have been the backbone of the journey: “At some point, the bigger clubs will come and try to cherry-pick some of these players." "How do we evolve the club and get through to the next phase of our development, keeping some of our fundamental principles in place, but also being able to replace some very good players with players who with eventually be as good?" “How do you do it without alienating some of the players who got you there in the first place?" “It would be very easy to suddenly throw a lot more money at players, but you have to be very aware of the challenge of having 4 or 5 very good players who got us there turning around & saying ‘Hang on, we are the ones who got us there, why aren’t we being rewarded with the big contracts? Why are you throwing this money in the belief that this new star player can take us to the next level?’" "If that player doesn’t share that same work ethic, that same humility, that same desire to improve & the rest of the players find themselves doing a lot of his running for him that’s where you find the whole culture & environment will collapse in on itself & you’ll find some bigger challenges.” [Brentford FC]📍Each week, I send one email filled with principles that sharp directors use to gain an edge. It's always short [5 minutes or less] and comes every Saturday morning.Join 800+ readers here: https://buff.ly/48Qs0Ob

Everything in the world today is so instant. From next day, sometimes even same day delivery, instant messaging, live news. The list goes on. Of course, there’s great benefits. But what concerns me for the younger generation is how instant gratification is the opposite of patience. What happens in the world of work when you don’t get something instantly? Or if you don’t get credit immediately? My fear is that we’re losing our patience. It’s impossible to achieve your business goals immediately. Sure you can have some quick wins, but real results take time. Which is exactly why at Wright Hassall we don’t try and do everything in 12 months. Good things take time. And we’re here for the long game. #Business #WrightHassall #LegalSector #ManagingPartner #LawFirm #RegionalLawFirm
